The office will open for tax season on January 15, 2024.

The IRS will begin accepting electronic tax returns on January 29, 2024.

By law, the IRS cannot issue refunds before mid-to-late-February for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.

The IRS federal tax filing deadline is Monday, April 15, 2024. Louisiana's state tax filing deadline is Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
